Midnight Burger lijkt op het eerste gezicht op een gewone Amerikaanse diner. Ze gaan om zes uur open, serveren koffie, hebben soms merkwaardige klanten en zoeken continu naar nieuw personeel. Wat echter bijzonder is aan deze diner, is hun vermogen om door verschillende dimensies te reizen. Dit is onbekend voor sollicitant Gloria, die na een mislukt sollicitatiegesprek wil vertrekken en zich plots in een andere dimensie bevindt. Gelukkig is ze niet alleen en wordt ze vergezeld door een team dat ervaring heeft met multidimensionaal dineren: een pratende radio die houdt van jazz uit de jaren dertig, een galactische zwerver, een malafide wetenschapper en een jongen genaamd Casper.
Elke dag duikt het restaurant op in een nieuwe dimensie en tijdsperiode, van Kentucky in 1934 tot een dystopische toekomst waar reclame direct in je hoofd wordt afgespeeld. Toch blijft koffie een constante, net als de vreemde bezoekers. Het eerste seizoen van deze podcast biedt zowel humor als reflectie op het dagelijkse leven, wat doet denken aan de sterke Netflix-animatieserie The Midnight Gospel.
